I had the pleasure of attending a model call at Ferrells Photography Studio. Ok, it’s no big deal a model call. I know these happen all the time. Well, let me tell you why this was a unique model call. Ferrell Phelps, Jt has been a photographer for many years and meet a lot of people. Some of you are reading this and have experienced some of his Exhibits and left in AMAZEMENT. I have had the pleasure of working with him and being a part of his projects. Ferrell is a person that genuinely thinks out of the box and does not care who agrees with him or not. Just step back and let his mind do what it does, and the finished Project will blow you away.
The passion of a person is what makes the success hard. You can see the emotion as he talks with a potential client. It’s not just about what other people stare at, but it’s about the creativity that God has created. Ferrell is a person that can see what others don’t see. When he start to talk about it he will get some crazy looks, but once you have worked with you you learn to step back and let him go. When it spills out of his head, there are no words.
This is modeling agency is truly fare. There is no favorites. Everyone is treated equally. Prime example. His brother had to audition. No cutting corners here.
Show me what you got. This is how you know it’s real. Ferrell’s baby brother really had to perform. You say you are an artist. Let’s go! Guess what he wnet in like an artist. If you say you are good at something or give yourself an title, then you better be ready. Always remember you talent is your gift. It will come natural.
Now let me tell you about this model call. This is not about a size 3 showing up in heels and knocking it out of the park. This model call is for the individuals that are not given a chance or are looked at because they are different. Different comes in many shades, sizes, and colors. In 2019 he hosted is 2nd Skin I’m In Project in Houston, TX, at the Buffalo Soldier Museum. As always, Mr. Phelps never disappoints. The Skin I’m In Project is about what people stare at (in my opinion). The reason I say this is because we, as a nation, look at vitiligo, disabilities, disfigurements, and so many other things as different, and we stare. Imagine how this makes a person feel to have to continually be stared and talked about. After their photoshoot I can only imagine how much you will stare. I can not wait to see this journey!
